I find quinoa really odd. It’s like little itty bitty grains of rice, except they taste kind of nutty or something. But they don’t taste like rice. It just tastes distinctly… healthy. Maybe if I had it fried in butter or something, I wouldn’t have that mental association with veganism and all that. Every time I’ve had it, it’s always mixed with a bunch of vegetables. Never with anything like steak. Why not steak? Or lobster.
But at least quinoa’s not as bad as tempeh. I’ve always found tempeh to be really bland. And it’s always in those weird-looking blocks. Why can’t they make it flavorful? I bet if they soaked it in something like lard for a day or so, it’d be nice and flavorful. Or maybe beef fat. But instead, I seem to always get these bland tempeh blocks amidst a forest of vegetables. And the vegetables are usually bland, too.
Recently, I always associate tempeh with Tinie Tempah. Just because I imagine that’s how his last name sounds. He’s that guy who sings “Written in the Stars,” which has been on the radio a fair amount recently. It’s on my Grooveshark playlist, so I listen to it at work. The chorus is catchy, so I like that. I kept thinking he was saying “a message to the man” in the chorus, but when I looked up the lyrics, it turned out he’s actually saying “a message to the main.” What does that mean? I don’t get it. It must be one of those abstract poetic things.
Speaking of British people, don’t you find it so attractive when someone has a nice British accent? When the person is already attractive, it just makes them even more attractive. I was watching the National Heads-Up Poker Championship on NBC this past weekend, and Liv Boeree was at the featured table playing against Jason Alexander. She just seemed like such a smart woman, not just because she destroyed Jason Alexander and she seemed to make all the right decisions, but because of her British accent. I don’t know, there was just something about her sitting there playing with her chips, talking with her British accent, that was just so sexy.
Oh this post wasn’t really about anything in particular. I just saw some quinoa earlier today, and then it led to some other thoughts…
