Well here we are, another new year already underway. And I’ve yet again let myself write even less in this blog, and do even less in my life. Oh well.
What happened in 2013:
- Wrote 14 blog posts (down 71% from 48 in 2012).
- Wrote 6 short stories (down 63% from 16 in 2012).
- Read 16 books (up 7% from 15 in 2012). Favorites: The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, Call Me by Your Name, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. Least favorites: The Notebook, Fifty Shades of Grey. The bad ones this year were really bad.
- Took 4106 pictures that I kept on my computer (up 10% from 3716 in 2012).
- Baked at least 49 items (down 13% from 56 in 2012).
- Lost $1344 playing poker (compared to winning $236 in 2012). That’s pretty bad, though I seemed to run bad with both queens and kings.
- Lost $61 through other forms of gambling (compared to losing $454 in 2012). I should probably give up on gambling. But it’s so fun.
Of course, numbers don’t capture the other things I did, like visiting two different foreign countries (Japan, Iceland), finally buying a house (along with increasing my financial obligations accordingly), making new friends (sometimes I’m social too), etc. The first eleven days of 2014 haven’t exactly been fruitful, but hopefully the remaining 354 will bring some more opportunities.
